Wrx Side Skirts
01-03 WRX bugeye side skirts?
I don't really know to much about the bugeye, but i was wondering if you could remove the black protective side skirts, and it would still be painted the stock color underneath?
do they serve a purpose other than protection?
also mby a link to a subie forum with proper removal of these protective side skirts.
No they are not 'painted' underneath. If you remove them you will see the factory bends of the sheet metal underneath and it will look ugly, trust me. It not only helps protect your car from debris but it keeps dirt from collecting in those crevices that are bound to rust out if clogged with dirt for any length of time.
You can buy STi side skirts that are painted or else remove your stock ones and paint them. You will have to rough the surface up a lot with some sand paper and apply an adhesion promoter to them as they are plastic. Then go ahead and paint them over in your color!
***non STi's came with black sideskirts on the bugeye's, you would have to paint them to match your car. Underneath is just sheet metal, no more plastic.

should I paint my Side Skirt on WRx?
Hey everyone, I have 02 wrx and my side skirt is black but my car color is blue. So I decidding whether I should paint my side skirt blue color to match my car> I want you guys opinion on what would look better. Plz Help me. thanks. Also I have extra paint at home so i want to use that because otherwise it would be useless.
Without the contrast I think the car would not look that good. If you had STi skirts, paint them, but the black WRX skirts are more for rock protection when you are playing in the dirt.
Also, if you paint the skirt, but don't have front and rear lips, the car will look like it has an unfinished body kit, and auto-zone Honda's will embrace you as their own.
