Wide Body Kit Porsche 1967 912 porsche pleas help?
hi everyone i jsut got a 912 67 porsche for free not to long ago ti is in restoration porsche i have abotu 15k for mods i was wondering whati could do to it to make it turn better and go fast if any one has any ideas just tell me i wanted to get like a 1980 3.3 for it if it would fit i know ill need a 915 or 930 tranny and i was planning on gettign a rebuilt one i saw a 930 for liek 2.2k not to bad so what could i do to this
also i wanteed a wide body kit for 17x8 in rims
so jsut tell me any ideas u have thxs

I am not sure this is such a great project, for many reasons... but first and foremost, $15k will not even get you started with what you've stated you are looking to do.
A 3.3 from a 1980 930 is a good engine... but a 930 engine alone will eat up well more than half of your overall budget! And if it doesn't, chances are the engine is not in the condition you would want, and you can expect it will wind up costing all of your budget and then some by the time you are done sorting it out (and same with the 930 4 speed).
Putting in a 930 engine and transmission, and suspension and brakes suitable for the power... and the wide body flares and new wheels and the fabrication for everything and the labor... all in all, this is going to be in the $50k range. And for that, you will have a car that will be worth less than a 912, since it's just a bastardized 912 that's not worth the original price to someone that wants a 912... and anyone that wants a 930 could get a real one for so much less!
So... if you want a 930, the best and least expensive route will be to sell the 912 now, take that $15k you have, and get a 930. It will be all set to go from the get go.
If you want to try and get the most that's reasonable from the 912, you need to look at what it already does well and improve those areas, and then look at adding what you can the the weak areas:
The strengths of the 912 are it's weight distribution (compared to a 911 or 930 at least), light steering and quick turn in. To keep the project on the less costly side, aim to upgrade mostly using take off parts from 70s-80s 911s. A set of Carrera calipers and rotors should come in for about $600 for example, and give great stopping power. Some old BBS 15" race wheels can be had inexpensively... will reduced unsprung rotating mass, and allow for wider tires. Retro-fitting ARBs from an SC or Carrera would work great (or spring for the bigger money here and go with Smart Racing or TRG equipment). Add fresh dampers all around, and the 912 will handle great, and stop very very well.
There are definitely some engine options... but you need to be realistic in what you are hoping to get. There are overbore options for just about all 912 engines, and you can expect to get a solid 15% or so more power. Combined with an early factory sports exhaust and some tuning, the car will run well, and drive well.
The best investment you can make in the car though, will be upgrading the driver! Spend some time learning to drive it (check out the local PCA region and get out to some driving events).
