Which car would be the best affordable sports car?

I am looking into buying a new car and have been doing research for a while but want advice on my final selection of affordable sports cars. I'm in between the 2011 Subaru WRX which has 265 HP and a 0-60 time of 4.7 seconds, the 2011 Ford Mustang V6 which has 305 HP and a 0-60 time in the low 5 second range while getting 31 MPG HW, and the Mazda RX8 mostly because of looks and the suicide doors even though it has a rotary engine. I live in Chicago.

Best for what? Looks, Modifications, Speed or quickness? What you need to do is test dive them all.

The WRX is going to be better in the snow. But snow tires on the others will help a lot. Both the WRX and the Mustang are good for modifications. But if you are not a car guy and don't care about turning your own wrenches then its a bit of a moot point. The Mustang will be easier and a bit cheaper to modify than the WRX. The options for the RX8 are much more limited.

The Mustang will not get 31 MPG but it will do as well or better than the other two in overall gas millage.

The WRX is the worst looking of the bunch. But a nice turbo upgrade and you wont really care. The mustang will be a bit safer on the motor to modify. The Mustang has more body upgrade options that you can imagine. Its very customizable. If you get one then please do so that its not the same as the other millions of other mustangs out there.

The rotary engine will limit your options and even the amount of mechanics that can work on it. But the paddle shifter is fun. The RX8 also has the least amount of back seat space and trunk space.
