Bodykit Body kit What are the steps to removing flexes out of my aftermarket bodykit?
I am wanting the know what materials and methods would be best to use in removing gaps and flexes out of my "cheap" 1-of-a-kind body kit!!:-) for my 98 accord? -flex example- The Fiberglass bumper sticks out a little from the frame on one side of the car and is not flush, and when i close my trunk the other side wants to show "play" and flex as well. I have already sanded a little to reduce the problem but i kno i can only sand so much before my fiberglass becomes to thin!!! I know about bondo and some other products, whats the "best" material and what are some good methods?
You should try to get it to align as best as possible, then i would sand down the least amount needed. If you have to build some out, use fiberglass filler, i use fiberstrand. Thats really why it pays off to buy the better stuff in the first place becouse it saves alot of work in the end. Ive bought the cheap stuff and regreted it. Just dont get real thick with the filler, use fiberglass matting or the fibrestrand to build out alot if needed. Use a long sanding board to avoid waves. Spray a guide coat of some black paint and sand it off with some finer grit to show low spots. Just make sure when you apply filler the surfaces is clean and you add enough hardener, If you add to much you can get air bubles, not enough and the filler will never harden all the way.
