Lifespan of a 95 honda prelude VTEC?

im looking at a 95 honda prelude vtec, it has 188k miles on it. its a 5 speed. it looks really nice, has a body kit, 17" rims wit low pro tires, leather, the works. he is asking $2000 for it. so my question is how long do you think it will run before the engine dies? ive heard around 235-300k if its taken good care of. is it worth the price he is asking? thanks!

with proper maintenance... they can last well over 300K

things i would do first... change the rims... theres no need for 17s on a prelude.. all it will do is hinder your ride quality. ask him when the last time he changed the timing belt... they are supposed to be changed around every 100K miles. if he hasnt done it... its good security to go ahead and do it when you get it.. and also.. while your in there.. change the water pump. it will be right there.. and easy to get to.

to the guy about the Vtec solenoid.... they will only go out if they get clogged and not tended to... there is a screen there that should be cleaned... one sign of a dirty screen.... not changing the oil on time and/or... using crappy cheap oil.
